Responding toe messages on the Area Resident's Animal rescue group, volunteers from that area rushed to a densely wooded plot located between the side of an apartment complex and adjacent to storm drain. The mission was to rescue a two year old dog that had its head stuck in a plastic drinking water canister, running around terrified and unable to eat or drink or be at peace. It was in this state since more than 16 hrs. A bunch of volunteers had tried chasing and rescuing him earlier but in vain. The dog had fallen into the storm drain canal. Finally, a two member team headed by Ranjan got down into the drain, cornered and caught the dog. It was brought up to the surface with the canister still stuck to its head. It was a quite a struggle for Ranjan and Mahesh to help the dog to take its head out of the canister According to Ranjan, the whole operations lasted about an hour and thanks to neighbours who cheered and claped for them the operation could be smooth and peaceful. 'The dog responded to the cheer and claps and co-operated well. Once the canister was removed, the dog jumped and ran away in joy. It was not an easy operation considered we had to be in the slush for about an hour. Special thanks to Mahesh as he gave me excellent company in the water".
