"Captain Mulla was in charge of locating and distroying a Pakistani Submarine in the North Arabian Sea during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. During the operation, INS Khukri was hit by a torpedo and began to sink. Completely disregarding his own safety, Captain Mulla supervised the rescue of his men and even gave away his own life-saving gear to one of them. He was last seen going down with the ship. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously and a postal stamp honouring him was issued in 2000."
