"During the 1971 operation, Lance Naik Ekka noticed an enemy light machine gun that was inflicting casualties on his unit. He risked his own life to charge towards the enemy bunker and silence it. Even when grievously injured, he continued to fight, leading to the success of his mission and saving the lives of many of the soldiers. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously and a postal stamp was also issued in his honour in 2000 to mark India's 50th Republic Day."
