"He received a tip off about a group of militants holed up in Shahapur village in Jammu. His unit tried to flush out the militants when he saw two of them trying to break away. He continued to pursue them inspite of being shot in his stomach and thigh. A garden in Pune has been named after him in which a life-sized statue of him dominates the entrance."
