"He headed the army's quick reaction team posted at Jammu station and spotted two heavily armed Lashkar-E-Tayiba terrorists forcing their way into the station. He fought fearlessly and succeeded in killing one of them and took charge of the situation. Lt.Singh killed the second terrorist just before being shot in the head. He was given a funeral with full military honours and was awarded the Ashok Chakra award posthumously."
