History :

Rajiv Pundir was born on 28 April 1962 in Dehradun. He completed his schooling from St. Joseph's Academy and thereafter joined NDA(National Defence Academy) in June 1979. He did his post graduate in Military Studies from the prestigious Defence services Staff College and was commissioned into the IAF on 29th May 1983. He had been posted to Squadron No.152 Helicopter Unit since 12th May 1998. On 8th October, 2000, Squadron Leader Rajiv Pundir was posthumously awarded the prestigious "Vayu Sena" gallantry medal. He made the supreme sacrifice for his country in keeping with the highest traditions of the service. Sqn Ldr Pundir is survived by his wife Sharmila and two children, Bhavya(7) and Karan(5).
